Every shirt on ShirtMap comes from a named business with a real location: the brewery that pours in that town, the bookshop on that street. This page is the standing policy for how that stays true.
What gets listed
A listing on ShirtMap is always attached to a specific business with a name, a town, and a place on the map. New businesses and new shirts are reviewed by a person before they publish. There is no open upload queue, no anonymous sellers, and no mass-generated catalog: if a shirt is here, someone checked that the business behind it is real.
Who runs the pages
Business owners claim their pages through a reviewed claim process, and a page managed by the business itself says so right on the shirt page. Shirts submitted by the community are labeled as community submissions until the business claims them, so you always know whether you are reading the owner's own words.
Prices you can check
Shirts sold on ShirtMap show the exact checkout price. Shirts sold through a shop's own website are re-checked automatically on a daily cycle against the store's live price, and listings that drift are flagged or corrected. Each shirt page shows the date its details were last confirmed.
Our own designs, disclosed
ShirtMap also produces hometown tees: original designs for the towns on the map, plus designs by named local artists and businesses who earn a royalty on every sale. These are printed on demand, and their product pages say who designed the shirt and who fulfills the order. Disclosure is the point: the rule is never that print-on-demand is bad, it is that nobody should have to guess where a shirt actually comes from.
What is never allowed
Anonymous storefronts. Dropshipped catalogs with no connection to the place they name. Mass-generated designs uploaded by the thousand. Claiming a physical shop that does not exist. These are the patterns that made big marketplaces impossible to trust for local goods, and they are structurally shut out here because every listing must trace to a reviewed, named, located business.
