Quiet was the founding idea here, not a slogan added later. Bethany Beach began in 1901 as a seaside assembly ground organized by a church group seeking a peaceful retreat, and the intention took: more than a century on, this stretch of the Delaware coast is still known as the Quiet Resorts. The boardwalk is short and calm, more strolling than spectacle. The dunes are fenced and grassy, evenings end early, and the loudest thing in town most nights is the ocean itself. At the entrance to downtown stands the local landmark: a tall totem pole honoring a twentieth-century Nanticoke chief, carved from red cedar, the third to stand on that spot since the 1970s as weather and time claimed each predecessor. Our Bethany Beach design keeps the town's volume: the totem pole rising on one side, the low boardwalk and dune grass running quiet beneath it, the waves drawn in thin, even lines beyond. Bethany Beach businesses take up residence here, quietly, as they join ShirtMap.
