Fayetteville, WV Shirts

For most of a century, crossing the New River Gorge near Fayetteville meant forty minutes of switchbacks down one wall and up the other. Then in 1977 the bridge went in: a single steel arch flung across the canyon, nearly nine hundred feet above the water, still the longest span of its kind in the Western Hemisphere. The crossing now takes under a minute, a fact locals share with a certain satisfaction. One day each October the town returns the favor, closing the bridge to cars so thousands can walk out on the deck and watch BASE jumpers step off into all that air. The rest of the year, Fayetteville is a gorge town down to its bones: rafters running the rapids below, climbers on the canyon walls, wet gear drying on porches all over town. Our Fayetteville design gives the arch the whole shirt, one clean steel curve spanning the gorge, a raft threading the whitewater far beneath it. As Fayetteville businesses take the leap onto ShirtMap, this page is where they will land.
