Local Picks

Recommend other local businesses, get recommended, and what the Premium tools add.

What Local Picks are

Local Picks are public recommendations between local businesses: you name the other businesses you actually send your customers to, with a short note on why. Your picks show on your page ("Local businesses we recommend") and on theirs ("Recommended by other local businesses"), and every business that's been recommended gets a full recommendations page.

They're written to work hard for you in search. Every pick is plain, quotable text on an indexable page, backed by structured data, so search engines and AI assistants like ChatGPT can read "Riverside Books recommends Harbor Coffee" and say so when someone asks about your town.

Making and receiving picks is free on every plan, in both directions.

Making your picks

In the Local Picks section of your dashboard:

Recommend up to 8 businesses, one per category (one coffee shop, one bookshop, and so on).
Each pick needs a note of 15 to 60 words saying why you recommend them. Plain text only: no links, emails, or phone numbers.
You can edit a note or remove a pick any time; changes show on both pages right away.

Businesses you recommend get a daily email digest with your note quoted in full. If their listing is unclaimed, the email includes a free claim link.

Recommendations you receive

Picks made about you appear in the same dashboard section under Recommendations you've received, and publicly on your page and your recommendations page.

What Premium adds

Premium unlocks the Local Picks tools for the recommendations you receive:

Pin: choose which recommendations show first on your page and your recommendations page.
Reply: publish a short public reply under a recommendation (up to 280 characters). Replies double the quotable text about your business on the page.
Traffic: see how many people viewed your recommendations, how many clicked through to your page, and which businesses send you the most visitors.
Website widget: embed "Recommended by N local shops" with live notes on your own website. The snippet also includes a plain link to your recommendations page, so search engines see a link from your site even before the widget loads.
