Narragansett, RI Shirts

A great granite arch spans the road at the heart of Narragansett, two round towers rising on either side of it. The Towers are all that remain of a grand Gilded Age casino, built in the 1880s by celebrated architects and lost to a fire in 1900 that took nearly everything but the stone. The town rebuilt itself around what survived, and around the ocean: today Narragansett is a surf town first, with wetsuited regulars in the water most mornings and everyone else walking the long seawall to judge the swell. The seawall at dusk is the unofficial promenade, and the arch stands at its end like a gate. Summer crowds come and go; the granite does not move. Our Narragansett design frames the shirt the way the arch frames the road: the Towers spanning the top, a wave curling through beneath them, a surfer dropping in where carriages used to pass.
