Havre de Grace, MD Shirts

Where the Susquehanna finally gives itself up to the Chesapeake, Havre de Grace made an art form out of fooling ducks. For generations, carvers here shaped and painted wooden decoys for the waterfowl hunters working these flats, and they did it so well that the town is called the Decoy Capital of the World, a title nobody has seriously contested. The other landmark is stone: the lighthouse at Concord Point, built in 1827, whose first keeper was John O'Neill, awarded the post for standing his ground against a British raid in 1813. Keeper and carver are the two Havre de Grace archetypes: stubborn, precise, good with their hands. Our Havre de Grace design honors both, a hand-carved canvasback floating plump and painted in the foreground, the little lighthouse steady on its point behind, water striped with early light. It looks like the town feels from the promenade at dusk. As Havre de Grace businesses land on ShirtMap, you will find them gathered here, like decoys on calm water.
