Boothbay Harbor wraps around its water like an amphitheater, and all summer the show is boats: lobster boats off their moorings before six, sails filling in the outer harbor, the whole fleet swinging together when the tide turns. A long wooden footbridge has crossed the harbor for more than a century, and walking it at dusk, with lights coming on around the rim and gardens glowing out on the peninsula, is the closest thing Maine has to a curtain call. Winters are quiet and salty and belong entirely to the people who haul traps year-round. Our Boothbay Harbor design centers on the footbridge, boats at anchor on either side, drawn loose like a harborside sketch.
