About Grafton
Grafton nearly emptied out once. The wool market faded, a flood in 1869 did real damage, and the village might have gone the way of a hundred hill towns if a foundation had not formed in 1963 to restore it, building by building. What survived is almost unfairly complete: an inn that has hosted travelers for the better part of two centuries, white houses along quiet roads, and cheese made in the village the way a farmers' cooperative began making it in 1892. In winter the back roads still feel like sleigh roads, which in Grafton is less nostalgia than a road report.
On the shirt
Our Grafton design keeps it small, because Grafton is: the inn's lit windows, a horse-drawn sleigh tracking down the lane, a wheel of cheese tucked into the corner like a secret.
As Grafton's few and mighty businesses join ShirtMap, they take their place on this page.
