Littleton, NH Shirts

In 1868 Littleton produced the woman who taught America to look on the bright side. Eleanor H. Porter, who wrote Pollyanna, was born here, and the town has adopted her glad game as civic policy: a bronze Pollyanna stands outside the public library with her arms flung wide, and every June the town throws a Glad Day in her honor. The rest of Littleton makes the optimism easy to keep up. Main Street runs long and lively for a mountain town, a covered footbridge crosses the Ammonoosuc beside an old mill, and the river keeps a steady argument going underneath it. Our Littleton design borrows the famous pose: an arms-wide silhouette above the town name, bridge and rooflines sketched beneath, the word glad set small where a motto would go. It is difficult to scowl in this shirt, which is rather the point. We will be glad, naturally, to add Littleton businesses to this page as they join ShirtMap.
