Lenox perfected the American summer twice. The first time was in the late 1800s, when wealthy families built dozens of enormous country houses in the hills here and called them cottages with a straight face, earning the town a reputation as an inland rival to Newport.

The second time came in the 1930s, when a great summer music festival made its home on a lawn at the edge of town. Ever since, warm evenings in Lenox have meant orchestral music drifting over acres of grass, picnic blankets and candles spread beneath the trees, and the Berkshire hills going blue as the light drops. It may be the only town in America where the correct concert attire includes a lawn chair.

Our Lenox design captures that hour: the great lawn sweeping toward an open-sided pavilion, picnickers dotted across it, music suggested in the air above the treeline. It is summer as Lenox has practiced it for the better part of a century.
